Here is a font that is great for Halloween, horror movies, or heavy metal bands. It’s a Type 1 PostScript font that I created nearly a year ago, put on my user group’s disk of the month, and just the other day I saw it in the Educorp catalog! It’s based on the old “Tales from the Crypt” comic books and adapted (with many changes) from an ImageWriter font supplied in the old Mindscape “Comic Works” program, which is no longer available. Since I didn’t attach a readme file when I gave it to my users group, & haven’t seen it on GEnie yet, I’m uploading it now to take credit, or blame. I don’t want anything for this font (it’s not exactly designed for frequent use) except credit for the many hours I spent creating it while learning Fontographer 3.1 (an excellent piece of software), and for thinking up the name (I love bad puns). The screen font is 24-point only; I’ll assume that, like me, you use ATM, and you shouldn’t use it any smaller than 18 points anyway. The font is all caps, but the “lower case” letters are 80% the size of the “upper case.” All characters hang below the baseline because of the “drips;” keep this fact in mind while creating your layout. I’ve made a number of changes and added quite a number of kerning pairs to the older version Educorp sells. Enjoy.
